Myanmar quake death toll tops 70

At least 74 people are known to have died in a 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on Thursday. The quake hit just after 1300 GMT close to the country's border with Thailand, destroying at least 225 homes and injuring 100 people. Aftershocks sparked panic in neighbouring Thailand and Vietnam. The worst-hit area of Thailand was the northern Chiang Rai province, just 56 kilometres from the quake's epicentre. One woman died when the wall of her house collapsed on top of her. ...
