Hundreds of ethnic Rakhine staged a rally and held special prayers at the Shwedagon Pagoda, a revered Buddhist site in the main city of Yangon, to protest against sectarian violence between Buddhists and Muslims. Authorities have imposed a curfew in the Rakhine state capital Sittwe, after rioting on Friday and Saturday saw hundreds of Buddhist villagers' homes set ablaze and left seven dead in the state, which borders Bangladesh.
